Excellent seafood, crab legs, scallops, salmon. Service was good. Minus 1/2 for ambiance, tables packed everywhere, hard to even walk. Minus 1/2 for price $49 per person and drinks were more. Waitress suggested a cocktail on special which was $8. Someone with a camera offers to take family pictures for more cash. Too much

This restaurant has become our tradition on birthdays, vacation, and any other road trip that takes us anywhere near one of their locations. We were a party of 4 and messed up by coming during dinner unlike the other times where we arrive just as they are opening up at 3pm. So while we are use to a line and they always move fast we weren't prepared just for the sheer amount of people that would be there and the lines at the buffet. However, everything tasted amazing like it always does and the hostesses and waitresses were friendly like always. They also had additional staff walking around collecting plates from tables so they could ensure they did not run out. Unfortunately they did not have my softshell crab this time but that is forgivable because whatever chef they had working on Friday, July 5th was on it. I have never tasted items being so flavorful at their locations as they were this night. I took one star away as I believe the lines at the buffets could of been handled a little better so people wouldn't have to wait so long. Especially someone like my partner who was in a leg cast and I saw a few in walkers that had no other family with them to assist.

Once we got there we were led to the sitting area on the Star side where our drink orders were taken then we proceeded to the dining area to fill our plates. With a party of about 30 people our waitresses did phenomenal in keeping our drinks coming and table cleared. The ribs, salmon, and crab legs were so delicious. Mac, veggies, and roll did their job. Wish they had one in Florida.

The truth is that there aren't enough positive words to explain this spot. My husband and I love seafood and have often taken special trips down to Virginia Beach just for Captain George's. When you first drive up to the restaurant, you're greeted by an awesome looking sign and a boat like entrance. They have 2 lines separated for guests 4 and under and 5 or more. This is helpful in keeping the line moving in the right direction. There are multiple different seating rooms that will accommodate larger crowds and regarding the food itself, WOW... what should I say. You're first greeted by the salad bar and then you transition into some fried seafood and other options (That's the first bar) following that is where all the warm non fried sea food options are and across for the second bar there are 3 additional bars. HONESTY HOUR I spend all my time at the bar that has the crawfish, mussels and the most beautiful Crab Legs. The servers work in groups and are continuously clearing your table which I appreciate because your girl can go through loads of crab legs and it's nice to have the trash bin cleared out as often as it is. We always get an order of the fresh oysters too. These are NOT included in the buffet but are worth the $15 (I believe, don't quote me on this lol) for a dozen. You need to ask for your sides though because they don't come out with them. If all of the above doesn't say it loud enough, I HIGHLY recommend this spot to the seafood lovers and also the non seafood lovers because there are loads of options for everyone!

Ahoy, seafood lovers! Set sail for Captain George's Seafood Buffet in Virginia Beach, where an ocean of culinary bounty awaits. For $50 per pirate (I mean, person!), you'll embark on an all-you-can-eat adventure overflowing with crustaceans, finfuls, and more. First mate, let me tell you, the crab legs were the undisputed captains of the buffet. Piles of snow crab awaited, boasting unlimited freshness (and I do mean UNLIMITED - we never hit an empty tray!). My only gripe? The crab legs were a little on the salty side. But hey, a squeeze of lemon and a dip in some creamy cocktail sauce easily remedied that minor squall. But the crab legs were just the tip of the iceberg, or should I say, the oyster shell? The selection was a vast smorgasbord of the sea. Steaming bowls of mussels, clams, and shrimp awaited, alongside grilled fish, fried delights, and even prime rib for the landlubbers in your crew. The food seemed fresh, constantly replenished by the attentive galley crew. Speaking of the crew, our waiter was a friendly shipmate, attentive and prompt in clearing our plates (much appreciated after battling those mountains of crab!). The clam chowder deserves a special mention - smooth, creamy, and brimming with clammy goodness, it was a warm hug in a bowl on a chilly day. However, this voyage wasn't entirely smooth sailing. Reservations are a must, as the dining room fills up faster than a shark sighting! And while the constant turnover ensures freshness, it can occasionally feel a bit hectic. Still, the friendly service and efficient operation kept the seasickness at bay. Overall, Captain George's Seafood Buffet is a treasure for those seeking a bottomless bounty of the sea. It's not fine dining, but it's a hearty, fun-filled adventure with some salty treasures worth diving for. Just come hungry and make reservations. I award it a solid 4 stars, with the promise to return and conquer the rest of the menu after I've digested this first wave of deliciousness.
